I have a client looking at DataDisplay 5 and specifically using the Omnivex interface to distribute realtime information from Bloomberg Server API as well as Reuters RMDS.
I can manage to interigate the Reuters information via their DDE link plug-in, however they want the ability to pull data from their centralized server trading system and display the resultant price on the LED wallboard. They have a code which subscribes to changes in the prices in teh specified securities from the Bloomberg Server API and return the resultant value. Apparently, this is written in Pythan language and I am strugglling to send this source to the display board. Has anyone ever come across this or have any advice on the best way to resolve this? Thanks in advance. |

Hi Graham,
DataDisplay was designed to support DDE links because almost all financial data providers support some form of DDE data. I would need to look at the exact configuration used for this other data source to give you concrete suggestions. However, if you can get the live data into an Excel spreadsheet then we can easily DDE link the data from there. Financial data providers often have a method of putting data into Excel. If this particular interface is going to require custom development then we can talk to the developers about possible solutions. Of course, we will need to know more about the data source if we want to go down this path. Have you contacted the data provider to see if they have other software/tools available that may be more suitable for linking to a signage application? |
