Gary Else at Communitech in Australia came up with a solution for one of his customers on how to monitor Player status that nicely illustrates a seldom used feature in Moxie. In the Player Manager, you can create multiple views of the Players list and apply filters to those pages. If you create a list with a filter of “Player > Current Status” containing the phrase “not running” then only those players not running will appear in that list. Don’t use the single word “not” because it will include not running and nothing scheduled. Under normal conditions, the list should always be blank. You can see a screenshot depicting the filter view below. You can do the same thing to create lists of Players with nothing currently scheduled. You can add multiple conditions to a filter view or create multiple filtered view pages.
Another solution is to dedicate a Player for network monitoring. You can create icons or add text to identify a condition and data bind the condition to the parameter in the Data Manager. You can find Player status information by expanding the Network folder. A data converter may come in handy to define conditions. You can add a map to your layout and position the Players along the map for quick reference. Either method works and can give you a quick check on your network health.
