We don't use Quicktime Player itself, we call on the codec installed on the system. Updating Quicktime player may or may not update the codec installed on your system. Are you performing this in response to an issue you are having?

That version of Display 3 is 4 years old and you should look to update it. We are now on release version 3.17.030 which came out in January of this year. Updates are covered in our maintenance package, simply contact the support team for more details.

I've been asked about some tiling that shows up on horzontal wipes and sparkles in transisions. When I play the mov in QuickTime player I don't see the sparkles, the tiling is not as much on the same pc. The mov is ok on the Mac were the mov is encoded.

So, is there anything we can do to minimize the tiling and sparkles? Do not know if this has been around and just started to notice them. Thanks.

When you mention 'tiling', 'horizontal wipes', and 'sparkles', is this only a symptom that appears between instances of the .MOV file in the layout?

Display 3 offers a series of transitions that can be utilized to transition between multimedia items. If these transitions are enabled, they may be providing effects similar to what you described without containing these effects in the original media file.

If you open the layout where you're experiencing these issues and select the multimedia zone that is experiencing the effects, take a look in the Zone display, and look at what Transitions are set up for the content. If it is anything other than [Flicker free cut], you may have alternate transitions enabled that are applied by the Display 3 Player.

Feel free to let me know if I've misunderstood something.

Thanks for the response.
The tiling and such are happening from within the mov. Basicly, we have one mov file that runs for 5-10 minutes and repeats itself.

Understood. It sounds like the issues are not completely due to Display 3 (as tiling appears in both the original file and in Display 3), and as Neil mentioned previously, updating your version of Display 3 Player / Director would be recommended in order to ensure you're not running into issues that have been resolved by a newer version.

It wouldn't hurt to update QuickTime Player in order to ensure all of your codecs are up to date as well.
