The Carbies use Omnivex software to create a winning marketing strategy for their team at the State Finals
|
The international competition is held in Melbourne, Australia and is run by Re-Engineering Australia (REA), a group dedicated to encouraging young students to pursue careers in Maths, Science & Engineering activities, trades and professions. Competitors were tasked with designing and manufacturing a car that followed a number of predetermined specifications, and then racing one another for a shot at first place.
After winning first place in the Junior Professional category at the Regional Level, the "Carbies", a team comprised of five-fourteen year old girls from Pine Rivers State High School, located in Queensland Australia, decided to also compete for the Marketing Award at the State Finals in addition to competing in the race. To impress the judges, they approached Omnivex Certified Reseller, Communitech, about incorporating digital signage into their competitive strategy. "The biggest, the best, the most 'high tech' solution we could think up was digital signage," explained Zoe Power, Assistant Engineer for the Carbies.
Omnivex provided the team with a 30-day trial version of their Display 3 software. After one hour of user training, the Carbies were able to put together a digital marketing presentation that allowed them to effectively showcase their team brand and intricacies of their race car. The Carbies succeeded in winning the Marketing Award, beating not only their Junior Professional competitors, but the Senior Professional teams as well. Omnivex provided the girls with a software platform that was user friendly enough to enable them to create and display their own content without difficulty.

Redhawk Racing utilizes digital signage to take home a second marketing award for Pine Rivers State High School
|
Following the Carbies success at the State Finals, Power was asked to join her school's Senior Professional team, Redhawk Racing, as they competed at the upcoming National Finals. The finals were held in Melbourne at the Australian Grand Prix and the National Science Museum. In preparation for the competition, Power turned to Omnivex for digital signage software to help create a successful marketing initiative for a second time. Omnivex responded by providing Redhawk Racing with licenses for their Omnivex Moxie software, which had just recently been released. After spending some time working with the new software and exploring its wide-ranging functionality, Redhawk Racing was able to create a truly engaging presentation to promote their team and its talents. "The possibilities are endless!" said Josh Smith, the student in charge of Redhawk Racing's public relations and finances.
After facing tough competition, Redhawk Racing managed to place second in the Senior Professional Class at the Australian National Finals. In addition to this achievement, they won "Best Team Marketing" in the Professional Class Category Awards. Not only had their hard work in engineering paid off, but their decision to include digital signage in their marketing efforts had proven to be a success as well.
Omnivex provided the student teams at Pine Rivers State High School with an opportunity to incorporate the latest display technology into their competitive marketing efforts. While Omnivex offers a digital signage software solution that is both graphically and functionally advanced, it is intuitive enough to allow users to quickly learn how to use the software to create and manage basic and effective digital content.
