Omnivex Certified Technician Program (Display 3)
The Omnivex Certified Technician (OCT) Program provides training, testing and accreditation for experienced individuals looking to become technical experts with
Omnivex products and solutions.
Through an extensive two-day course and a variety of practical exercises, participants learn to design, implement and troubleshoot complex data-driven solutions
powered by the latest in Omnivex technology.
Prerequisites
Students must have a strong technical aptitude and a working knowledge of all Omnivex products, including Display 3 Director & Player, DataPipe 3 Client & Server
and Control 4 Director & Player. Students must also have familiarity with Omnivex Data Linking products.
All participants must bring a Windows laptop PC to the session and have full read/write access as well as permissions to load applications on the PC.
Module overviews
Module 1: Configuring kiosk interactions: Build a Now Playing movie previews system using button zones, command zones and integrated Flash files.
Module 2: Configuring boardroom automation: Control boardroom RS-232 devices by configuring a touch-screen system that integrates Design files and automated IOLink 3
trigger source cell value replacements.
Module 3: Configuring interactive product displays: Configure two-way data product displays that deliver action-triggered product information to shoppers, and chart
action-triggered user behaviour data for the retailer.
Module 4: Leveraging contextual data: Examine strategies to leverage contextual data capabilities that push data-driven messaging, enable two-way data delivery, and
lower operations costs.
Module 5: Controlling timer data: Set up a timer and a set of touch-screen controls to countdown from 00:12:00 minutes to 00:00:00 by integrating TimerLink with
configured button zones.
Module 6: Automating contextual data: Configure multiple ticket purchase kiosks to deliver unique and dynamically changing product data using just one Display file
through dynamically changing SQL queries, DataPipe offsets and layered zone functions.
Module 7: Tips and tricks: Creating screen savers to display dynamic data, using XML to control multimedia playlists, selecting node values at any level in an XML file,
automating device reactions.
Module 8: Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot customer problems by analyzing DSP, DPP, DataPipe Server DAT files, and transfer logs.
Module 9: Architecting Omnivex solutions: Analyze customer messaging requirements and design integrated data-driven message display solutions.
Certification requirements
Omnivex training standards specify the minimum requirements for certification. Future courses may be expanded, as necessary, to include additional material required to
meet classroom needs.
To receive certification, students must obtain a minimum mark of 75% on the written examination.
An Omnivex Technical Certificate is valid for one year from the date the exam is successfully completed. Although not required, Omnivex recommends that participants
attend an in-class training session before they attempt their renewal exam.
NOTE: Students may not immediately challenge a second certification exam if they fail the initial attempt. They must first participate in Omnivex-authorized, class-based
training sessions before they attempt the certification test again.
