KB23: How to: Install your Omnivex Software


Step-by-step instructions to help you install your Omnivex software. This is the standard installation process for all of our software, except:

  • SQLLink 4
  • Moxie component applications


Before you start the procedure, ensure that your PC is running under Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows 2003. You must run one of these operating systems to install Omnivex software.

Note: The images in the following example show the installation process for Display 3 Director, your images may be slightly different, depending on the software you are installing.

To install your Omnivex software:

  1. Start the Omnivex install. The InstallShield Wizard dialog box appears.
  2. Click Next. The Licence Agreement dialog box appears.
  3. Review the End User License Agreement.
    To proceed with the installation, you must accept the terms in the agreement.
    1. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement to continue.
    2. Click Next.
    The Customer Information dialog box appears.
  4. In the Customer Information dialog box:
    1. Type your User Name and Organization information.
    2. Select whether you want the application accessible to anyone who uses your computer or only to your User Name and Login. Make sure you select the correct option.
    3. Click Next.
    The Destination Folder dialog box appears.
  5. The default directory for Omnivex program files is C:\Program Files\Omnivex\productname. Depending on where you want the software to install:
    • To accept the default location, click Next.
    • To install the software in a different location
      1. Click Change
      2. Browse to select a different folder in which you want to install the software
      3. Click Next.

    The Ready to Install the Program dialog box appears.

    Note: If you decide to change the destination folder, note its location so you can find it to open the program or create a shortcut.
  6. Review the setup information to confirm that it is correct.
    • If the information is correct, click Install. The system runs the installation. A progress bar appears as the installation program copies files to your computer in the directory you selected.
    • If the information is incorrect, click Back, make the appropriate correction, then click forward to this dialog box again, and click Install.
    When the installation procedure is complete, the InstallShield Wizard Completed dialog box appears.
  7. Click Finish.

Additional information

Omnivex software installs using an MSI file, rather than an EXE. MSI files are installation files that run using the Microsoft Windows Installer, a component of Microsoft Windows 2000 (and higher) which simplifies the installation process.
