About Perimeter Aviation
Perimeter Aviation is a regional airline operating scheduled passenger service, cargo, and charter flights across Manitoba and Ontario. With a network that connects remote northern communities to larger hubs, Perimeter Aviation plays a critical role in accessibility, healthcare travel, and community connectivity. The airline manages it’s own terminal facility in Winnipeg and customer service operations across several bases, 20 remote northern airports, and commuter airports in Ontario.
The Scope
Perimeter Aviation required a consistent, reliable, and centrally managed way to communicate with passengers in the Winnipeg terminal they operate. A recent renovation added 22,000 square feet of space and expanded boarding capacity from one to three gates. With more passenger traffic and a larger facility, the need for clear, real-time communication became critical.
Perimeter Aviation had several key objectives they wanted to accomplish with this project:
- Accessibility compliance: Meeting regulatory requirements for accessible communication, including integrated visual and audio messaging to better serve people who are hearing, mobility, or vision impaired.
-
Reducing passenger confusion and enhancing the experience: Providing timely updates on boarding, baggage, delays, and safety, while ensuring information is presented in a way consistent with international and other regional airports.
-
Promoting commercial opportunities: Featuring loyalty programs, tourism initiatives, partnerships, and promotions in a dynamic, engaging way.
-
Cost and efficiency gains: Reducing the expenses and time associated with printing and distributing static signage.
-
Brand presence and professionalism: Elevating the overall look and feel of the terminal environment, strengthening relationships with passengers, and instilling pride among employees.
The Solution
Perimeter Aviation selected Omnivex Ink digital signage software to create a central communications hub across their terminal, integrating flight information, corporate messaging, and community engagement content. With help from PSB Integration Inc., an Omnivex partner, Perimeter Aviation now has a network of over 20 screens across the terminal. The displays are integrated with Atlas IED airport communications system and share a variety of information, including passenger-facing messaging such as FIDS and GIDS, along with visual paging and messaging, to meet accessibility requirements.

Digital signage screens are located in the lobby, check-in counters, security screening area, boarding lounge, gates, and baggage claim and arrivals area. They are being used to share a variety of information, including:
Advertising: partner offers, sales, as well as selling advertising space
Flight Information: flight schedules, gate departures, delays, regulatory requirements
General Information: accessibility requests, tourism highlights, prohibited items, safety messaging, date, and time
Entertainment: cable TV

The Results
The introduction of Gate Information Displays (GIDs) — a new addition to the organization — and other signage has created additional opportunities for Perimeter Aviation to deliver essential information in dynamic ways. Passengers can rely on digital signage for accurate flight times, arrivals, and important reminders, including baggage allowances, parking information, prohibited items, and other travel requirements. This has helped improve passenger experience and created a sense of pride among employees. Perimeter Aviation is exploring the expansion of its digital signage to include additional advertising options.
