Control 5.01.034 released

Product changes to operate with newer operating systems.

Omnivex Control 4 (CTLXX4) has been replaced by Control 5 (CTLXX5) which supports Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012. From a functional perspective, Users will not see a difference between these two versions. There are no changes in features or performance. Control 5 will install a copy of Embarcadero InterBase XE3 to support the Control Server. Uninstalling Embarcadero InterBase XE3 will prevent Control 5 Server from operating. Control Server 5 is only available to run as a service, it will not run as an application.

New Features:

None

Control 5 uses the same registration key system as Control 4, however you will need to install a new key from Omnivex when you install the new version. We recommend any customer operating on Server 2003 or earlier to remain on Control 4. Customers with valid AMS agreements updating to Server 2008 R2 or 2012 will be provided a copy of Control 5 at no charge. Some manual operation will be required to move existing data from Control 4 to Control 5. Details are explained in KB286. This release of Control Server will run on Windows 8 (64 bit), Windows 7 (64 bit & 32 bit), Windows 2008 (64 bit and 32 bit) and Windows 2012 (64 bit). The Control Player is only tested on Windows 8 (64 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit and 32 bit). Further details can be found in KB296.
